Almost the entire southern half of Saskatchewan including Saskatoon and Regina, are under a blowing snow advisory.

Environment Canada says strong northwest winds with gusts of 60 to 70 km/h will combine with flurries to produce areas of reduced visibilities. Some areas may see prolonged periods of blowing snow, while others may encounter abrupt changes in visibility as bands of flurries move through.

Winds will gradually diminish and conditions will improve this afternoon in western Saskatchewan, this evening in eastern Saskatchewan and overnight in western Manitoba.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.

The City of Saskatoon says it is expecting drifting to occur, especially on streets adjacent to open areas. Crews will plow Circle Drive as drifting occurs and grade snow along streets with drifting.

Sand will be applied to improve traction, with a focus on Circle Drive and other major streets, bridge decks and intersections.

The city does note that the wind will make this challenging, as it will blow away sand as it is applied and extra caution while driving is advised
