Regina Police have charged a 15 year-old youth after they were seen displaying a photo of themselves with a firearm on social media.

Police in the Queen City say they received a report of a photo making its rounds on social media yesterday (fri) afternoon of a student posing with a firearm at a school located in the 5200 block of Rochdale Boulevard.

A news release from Regina Police says school staff worked with a member of the School Response Unit and began the standard weapons protocol response to determine the identity of the suspect.

The student was then located and arrested by police. The firearm was determined to be a replica.

The 15 year-old is facing a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

The youth will appear in court on April 27th.
