They may have a Magic Number of nine points to clinch a playoff spot, but the Saskatoon Blades will be hard-pressed to reduce that number themselves over the next two nights!
On Tuesday evening, the Bridge City Bunch visit the Red Deer Rebels, who have won nine of their last 10 games to solidify their hold on third place in the Eastern Conference. The good news for the Blue and Gold is that they’re the ones responsible for Red Deer’s lone loss in their last 10, a 5-2 triumph on March 5th at SaskTel Centre. Then, on Wednesday, the Blades travel to Edmonton to face an Oil Kings’ team that has won 14-in-a-row and have a commanding eight-point lead over Winnipeg for top spot in the Conference. To make matters more difficult for Saskatoon, Edmonton has only lost twice in 29 games at Rogers Place. The Bridge City Bunch are coming off a 1-0 loss to visiting Prince Albert back on Saturday and the Blue and Gold will travel to HockeyTown North this Saturday, where they out-lasted the Raiders 3-2 in overtime last Friday. That’s the only setback for P-A in their last five outings. You get the idea…the Blades, who are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games are taking on three teams who are a combined 27-1-1 of recent. For all three games this week, CJWW’s broadcast starts at 6:30 with the play-by-play at 7 p.m. Following are comments about this week from Saskatoon head coach Brennan Sonne as well as defenceman and captain Aidan De La Gorgendiere…..
