The Government of Saskatchewan says there are 38 more pre and post- addiction treatment beds are now operating in the province to help people recovering from substance use disorders, including crystal meth, opioid and alcohol addiction.

The new beds are part of a $1 million budget commitment from the-year-before-last (2019-2020), to provide an additional 50 pre- and post-treatment addiction beds throughout the province.

The first beds began operating in Lloydminster in November 2020 and beds in Prince Albert opened last month.

Prince Albert has eight beds with services provided by the YWCA; Saskatoon has 10 beds with services provided by Oxford House; Lloydminster has 12 beds with services provided by Residents in Recovery: Sober Living; Regina has eight post-treatment beds with services provided by Pine Lodge. Ten pre-treatment beds will be up and running by summer 2022 and Moose Jaw’s beds are being finalized and will be announced at a later date.
