The Regina Fire Department responded to a fire in the parking garage located at the Cornwall Centre just after 9:30 Saturday night.

Fire crews say the blaze happened in a trash compacter located by the old Sears location.

Firefighters called it a “challenging location”. The fire also caused nearby smoke alarms located in an apartment building to go off.

There appeared to be little damage other than burnt paper and cardboard outside of the compactor.

There’s no word on a cause of the fire at this time or a damage estimate.
