On the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination today (Mon), the City of Saskatoon has announced this year’s Living in Harmony award winners. The Community Impact Award goes to both Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation Inc. and Helen Smith-McIntyre.

TAYFFI provides tailored programs and supports for individuals, youth and families from visible/ethnic minority groups and vulnerable communities in Saskatoon and area. Helen Smith-McIntyre is being recognized for her anti-racist and equity diversity and inclusion work, including with the group “Women Walking Together”, which creates awareness about violence against women and the issue of missing or murdered Aboriginal women.

-Best Elementary Submission: Geordie Laliberte, Travis Bird and Brooklyn Dreger from the Grade 7/8 class at Pleasant Hill School
-Best Video Submission: The Young Indigenous Women’s Utopia Girls Group, St. Marguerite School
-Outstanding Classroom Participation: Christine Loewen from the Grade 7/8 class at Greystone School
-Best Overall Poster: Steven Qui of Greystone School
