Premier Scott Moe is promising tomorrow’s (Wed) budget will include an increase in health care spending to deal with surgical backlogs and increase I-C-U capacity.

He told the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities convention last week that the budget will also include funding for the recruitment and retention of healthcare workers

Moe also hinted that the budget will move much closer to being in balance. The provincial deficit hit a record high of 2.7-billion dollars in November, but Saskatchewan is expected to benefit from rising oil and potash prices.

When the budget for this fiscal year was presented last April, the forecast was for a deficit of $2.6-billion, and the budget not being balanced until 2026-27.

The forecast was also for $14.5-billion in revenue and $17.1-billion in expenditures.
