Andrew Kesler and Danny Fong, two artists from Saskatoon will be making their Canadian debut Saturday night at TCU Place alongside the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra.
Both Kesler and Fong are part of the vocal sextet group Accent. Fong says their music is different than that of more traditional acapella groups.
“Accent has a very unique sound, when you think about mainstream acapella music you typically have three-part harmony and then you add a beat boxer and a low base note to make the sound more full. But Acccent’s six-part harmony is for the most part six different notes all the time which creates dense, jazz influenced cords.”
Accent was set to perform in Saskatoon back in March 2020, although the pandemic brought that show to a screeching halt.
Fong says it will be nice to perform in front of the hometown crowd.
“We’ve been to all of our other members hometowns and stayed with their families, got to know all of them and having never been to Canada, not only has my family never seen or met the group or just people who are very close to me, people who I love very much, they haven’t seen me perform and neither have my friends. It’s crazy that we’ve been a group for 10 years and have never been able to perform for people we know.”
