A report will be presented to Prince Albert City Council on Monday, which reviews expenses related to the snow management reserve fund.
During budget deliberations, Council took note of an ongoing deficit in the reserve and wanted to find out more about how snow management is budgeted and why it’s in deficit.
The reserve fund was set up in 2014 to help account for the fluctuation in snow management expenses.
At first, there were a few years of surpluses, but the report says back-to-back years of high snow amounts, going back to 2018, with major snow events and winter storms has resulted in ongoing deficits.
