Delegations of Indigenous Canadians have been traveling to Rome over the past few days, getting ready to meet Pope Francis. He will be hosting meetings at the Vatican to talk about the harms from the residential school system. There will be meetings for First Nations, Metis and Inuit delegations. Metis Nation – Saskatchewan reported last week that there is a delegation which includes an MN-S representative and survivors of residential schools in this province who will be speaking with the Pope on Friday.

This was organized by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. A news release from the Bishops says a delegation of 32 Indigenous Elders, knowledge keepers, residential school survivors and youth are journeying together from across the country to meet with Pope Frances. The delegates were selected in collaboration with leadership from First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples.
