Saskatoon Police say their officers arrested five people after an evade police incident on Thursday night.

Just before midnight, a vehicle officers say they believed to be stolen was spotted so they tried to pull it over near 22nd Street West and Witney Avenue. The vehicle didn’t stop and headed northbound up Idylwyld Drive where again it did not come to a halt despite the stud belt laid down at Marquis Drive. In fact, it drove out Highway 12 without front tires, towards Martensville.

Shortly before reaching Township Road 380, the vehicle stopped and the Tactical Support Unit moved in to assist.

About 30 minutes later, five people left the vehicle. A loaded rifle was seized. There were no theft charges laid however, a 45-year-old man is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evading Police, Prohibited Operation of a Vehicle as well as seven firearm related charges. Four women ages 28, 24, and 22 face multiple firearm related charges.
