Nolan Maier (pictured) stopped 20 shots for his second shutout of the season and 11th clean sheet of his career, but more significantly the 21-year-old Yorkton product recorded his 120th career W-H-L victory…all with the Blades…as Saskatoon blanked Medicine Hat 4-0 Tuesday night.
The 120 wins in his career ties Maier for the all-time league record for career wins by a goaltender with former Kamloops great Corey Hirsch and with former Vancouver star Tyson Sexsmith. Maier got offensive support from Brandon Lisowsky, Egor Sidorov, Noah Boyko and Kyle Crnkovic as the Bridge City Bunch improved to 36-25-4 for 76 points, one back of Moose Jaw for fourth place in the Eastern Conference while remaining five points ahead of Brandon. The Wheat Kings edged Regina 5-4 Tuesday. Former Tiger Ryan Nolan chipped in with three assists in his first game back in Medicine Hat since being traded to the Blue and Gold in January. Maier can claim the record all on his own and the Blades can jump ahead of the Warriors into fourth with a win on Wednesday in Lethbridge. The broadcast on CJWW starts at 6:30 and the play-by-play at 7 p.m. Following is the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L, plus Les Lazaruk’s Post-Game Show interview with head coach Brennan Sonne…..
