Today is the fourth anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash when 16 people were killed and 13 injured, after a semi trailer collided with the team bus. There will be a service today at the Elgar Petersen Arena, home ice for the Humboldt Broncos, late this afternoon.

Meanwhile, organizers working on building a new facility, the Humboldt Broncos Tribute Centre, had hoped to have shovels in the ground next year. But they are in the midst of feasibility studies.

The goal is to raise $35 million dollars for a building that would be the new home of the Humboldt Broncos hockey team, along with a new tribute centre and a training facility. The goal by those planning the facility is to create something positive out of the Broncos’ tragedy.

City of Humboldt officials point out that since the 1st Anniversary of the crash there has been no service held that was open to the public due to COVID restrictions. So the Elgar Petersen Arena will be open to the public to come and go as they wish to pay their respects from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. today. A compilation of videos from the past three services and some newly created videos will be played at that time and some videos will also be made available simultaneously on the City of Humboldt’s Facebook page.
