After warrants were issued for the arrest of a Saskatchewan man wanted in connection to two robberies on Big River First Nation, RCMP have taken a 27 year old man into custody.

Police report that on March 5 and March 17 there were two reports of separate incidents where a vehicle was stolen at gunpoint.  No one was hurt in the robberies.

Big River RCMP and the RCMP North Battleford Crime Reduction Team actively worked to locate and arrest Brandon Whitefish of Big River First Nation.  He was located in a vehicle on Highway 55 and RCMP say the vehicle did not pull over despite lights and sirens being activated but instead the suspect drove to a home on Big River First Nation.  Whitefish was apprehended and remains in custody until his next court appearance in Prince Albert on April 13th.

A total of fourteen charges, including weapons and robbery, have been laid against Whitefish.

Inspector Glenn Church, officer in charge of SERT says the investigation was an example of the power of collaboration.
