Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced another $100 million dollars in humanitarian efforts to support Ukraine and neighbouring countries by providing added emergency health services, including trauma care, protection and necessities like water, shelter and food.

Trudeau also announced a series of measures to make it easier for Ukrainians fleeing the war in their home country. Targeted charter flights to Canada for Ukrainians, short-term income support to ensure basic needs are met and temporary hotel accommodations for up to two weeks are the measures Canada will introduce to help those fleeing the conflict.

The measures announced today (sat) are part of the Stand Up for Ukraine pledging event.

The global social media rally raised over $12.4 billion in pledges to support Ukrainian refugees and to assist in the humanitarian efforts.

In the budget released on Thursday, Canada announced $1.2 billion in direct contributions in support of Ukraine and its people along with an offer of up to $1.6 billion in loans to support Ukraine’s government.
