As of late Wednesday afternoon, the Saskatchewan RCMP was reporting that Detachments in the southeast are reporting zero visibility/white-out condition, with lots of highway closures on the Highway Hotline map. On the plus side, the Communications Centre hadn’t received many weather-related call for police assistance today (Wed).

The RCMP advise anyone in the areas affected by the storm to not travel if at all possible. If things look clear and the roads are reported to be okay when you are leaving, make sure to still check the forecast and the Highway Hotline, because conditions can change very quickly. If you can’t reschedule your travel plans, take warm clothes with you, an emergency kit, and a fully charged cell phone. Also, share your travel plans with someone and check in with them regularly.

Basically all of the roads in the southeast corner of the province are closed at this point, according to the Highway Hotline. Roads are closed around Carlyle, Estevan, and Grenfell and travel is not recommended in Weyburn and Moosomin. Conditions are expected to improve in the early hours on Good Friday.
