What looked like more from the outside, turned out to be considered just a small fire by the Saskatoon Fire Department early Wednesday afternoon.

The S-F-D received a call from a passerby at about 12:58 p.m., who reported seeing smoke from the roof of the Venture Inn, formerly known as the North Gate Motor Inn, in the 700 block of Idylwyld Drive North. Four fire engines, a ladder unit, a rescue unit and a Battalion Chief responded and had the fire extinguished by 1:10 p.m. Upon arrival, fire fighters saw light smoke coming from the motel. After evacuating guests, crews located the smoke coming from a suite with a fire in a dryer. The building was ventilated of residual smoke and carbon monoxide. A fire investigator is on the scene.
