The Government of Saskatchewan says a 25 year old inmate was found unresponsive in her cell at Pine Grove Correctional Centre on Friday.

Corrections staff attempted life saving measures and called EMS. The inmate was taken to Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert and pronounced deceased at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.

No foul play is suspected and the death is not related to COVID-19. The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will be conducting an internal investigation as is the Prince Albert Police Service and the Coroners Service.
