Saskatoon’s viral COVID-19 load has increased from the previous week while both Prince Albert and North Battleford saw decreases.

The wastewater in Saskatoon saw a 25.5 per cent jump while Prince Albert saw a decrease of 16.5 per cent and North Battleford’s dropped by 20.1 per cent.

The data collected by scientists at the University of Saskatchewan determined the Omicron BA.2 subvariant was the most prominent strain of the virus detected in the three cities wastewater, accounting for over 98 per cent or the viral load.

Reporting for this round of data ended on April 13th for Saskatoon, April 11th in P.A. and April 9th in North Battleford.

Saskatoon’s 25.5 per cent increase was relatively minimal compared to last week’s jump of over 740 per cent.
