Gasbuddy.com says average retail gasoline prices in Saskatoon have fallen 2.5 cents a litre in the past week, averaging $1.65 a litre as of Sunday. That compares to the national average which actually went up 3.3 cents a litre in the last week to a dollar-seventy one-point-seven-seven cents a litre.

Prices yesterday in Saskatoon were 38.1 cents a litre higher than the same day one year ago and are nine cents a litre lower than a month ago.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy says a barrel of crude is now 14 dollars higher than it was last week with the European Union considering harsher sanctions against Russia. He says more economic sanctions could further tilt the balance of supply and demand and potentially send oil prices up significantly.
