By supper time Tuesday an out of control grass fire had consumed a trailer and possibly some vehicles.

Warman RCMP issued an advisory at 5:15 p.m. asking motorists to avoid Highway #60 and #762 (Valley Road) near Vanscoy. At 6:34 p.m. RCMP updated the situation saying the highway is now back open.

The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a call at 2:54pm about a fire along Highway 60, south of Valley Road.

On arrival, a large grass fire was being pushed by a strong, gusty east-southeast wind.  The wind was making it very difficult to get the fire under control. Fire officials had expressed concern about the fire spreading to structures in the area. The smoke also significantly reduced visibility.

Four fire engines from the Saskatoon Fire Department had been on the scene along with partner fire services from Pike Lake and Delisle.
