The 2022 S-G-I Canada Best of the West curling bonspiel starts today and runs through Sunday at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon. There are eight women’s teams and eight men’s teams taking part, two from each Western Canada province. The teams are all aged Under 30 years old. The gender fields are split into pools of four teams each for round-robin play, followed by the top two from each pool advancing to straight knock-out playoffs. Each champion receives 10-thousand dollars. Saskatchewan’s teams are skipped by Kourtney Fesser of Saskatoon and Lorraine Schneider of Regina in the women’s draw while on the men’s side, the Saskatchewan teams are both from Saskatoon, skipped by Brady Scharback and Rylan Kleiter. Draws today go at 8:30 a.m., 12:30, 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. with Opening Ceremonies at 7:30 p.m.
