Nipawin RCMP want to track down a man wanted in connection to failing to stop for police and a stolen vehicle.
On Monday officers tried to pull over the driver of a truck in Aylsham, Saskatchewan but the driver fled the scene and headed south out of the community. RCMP last had eyes on the vehicle around 10 p.m. on Monday night.
Tuesday, the truck, which was determined by police as being stolen, was found abandoned at a rural location in the RM of Bjorkdale.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 31-year-old Matthew Barker of Swan River, Manitoba who is facing charges in relation to fleeing police, possessing stolen property and impersonating another person.
Barker is described as 5’11” tall, approximately 250 pounds, black hair, brown eyes and numerous tattoos on his forearm as well as one on his neck. A photo is in our online story.
Nipawin and Tisdale RCMP are actively trying to find the suspect and say he may be armed and is considered dangerous. If you see Matthew Barker contact your nearest RCMP or police service but do not approach him.

” Possession of stolen property over $5,000, Section 355(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
” Possession of stolen property under $5,000, Section 355(b), CC
” Traffic stolen property, Section 355.2, CC
” Fraudulently personate another person with intent to avoid prosecution, Section 403(1)(d), CC
” Fail to stop while being pursued by peace officer, Section 320.17, CC
” Dangerous operation of a conveyance, Section 320.13(1), CC
” Failure to comply, Section 145(5)(a), CC
