Justice Richard Danyliuk has ruled in a first degree murder case that new evidence presented by the Crown is admissible, and it is being heard in Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench. Greg Fertuck is charged with first degree murder and indignity to human remains, in connection to the death of his estranged wife, Sheree Fertuck. A ruling on whether evidence from the voir dire would be admissible was originally scheduled for March 30th, but the the Crown applied to re-open it, to include new evidence.
Sheree Fertuck was 51 when she was last seen leaving her family’s farm near Kenaston in December of 2015. Her body has never been found, but in June of 2019, Greg Fertuck was arrested and charged with first degree murder and indignity to human remains.
Because of COVID-19, trial was delayed until September of last year. A voir dire is a trial within a trial to consider whether evidence is admissible, like a Mr. Big Sting, which was a factor in this homicide investigation.
