Both Prince Albert and North Battleford have an increase in COVID-19 viral RNA load in their wastewater, but the Global Institute for Water Security on the USask campus is reporting an almost 13 per cent decrease in Saskatoon for the week leading up to April 27th, compared to the previous week. It is the second week of declines, but the Institute notes it’s a slow decline and the viral load is still high, with the fourth largest amount ever observed in the city. The makeup of what is in the water is 99.5 per cent the Omicron BA-2 variant and the other point-5 percent is Omicron.
The viral load in North Battleford has increased by just over 51 per cent for the week leading up to April 22nd. The GIWS says the measurement is the highest ever for that city. Just over 98 per cent is Omicron BA-2 and the rest is Omicron.
In Prince Albert, the viral load increased by 108 per cent for the week leading up to April 25th. The majority, at 85 per cent is Omicron BA-2 and 15 per cent is Omicron.
