On the agenda for Saskatoon’s Environment, Utilities and Corporate Services committee meeting Monday morning is a water conservation strategy report. Director of Sustainability, Jeanna South, says the report is two years in the making, informed by public engagement, and it encourages conservation through a variety of methods.
Some water conservation initiatives underway include improving City water use in parks and other areas of operations, residential water use education, and the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional building energy and efficiency retrofit program. South says some of the actions included in the report include reducing peak summer use to ease demand on infrastructure, reduce water from the City’s own operations to save money, and showing residents and businesses ways they can change their water use to reduce utility bills.
