Saskatchewan New Democrats have found a new point of contention with the Sask Party government.
A report this week from Statistics Canada showed Saskatchewan was the only province or territory to record a decline in Gross Domestic Product in 2021 at -0.3 per cent. The data also revealed that Saskatchewan is the only province or territory in Canada to have a decline in G-D-P in the last three consecutive years.
“For months, the Sask Party has claimed the economy is booming,” said N-D-P leader Ryan Meili. “The numbers released by Statistics Canada say otherwise.”
The Stats Can numbers show Canada, as a whole, had an increase in Gross Domestic Product of 4.8 per cent in 2021 with the Yukon Territory posting the highest G-D-P growth rate in the country at 9.1 per cent.
