Reaction to the Provincial Government’s planned minimum wage increases came quickly from a pair of groups.
Both the Saskatchewan Federal of Labour and the Canadan Union of Public Employees-Saskatchewan chapter called on the Sask Party to immediately increase the minimum wage to $15 dollars/hour.
“Saskatchewan workers need relief now, not in months or years from now,” said C-U-P-E-Saskatchewan President Judy Henley, a statement echoed by S-F-L President Lori Johb.
However, Johb did say Tuesday’s minimum wage increase announcement from the provincial government, “is a big win for workers and a direct result of years of lobbying, campaigning and political pressure from the S-F-L and our union affiliates.”
