Saskatchewan Polytechnic students and alumni are helping small businesses grow their digital presence, made possible by the federal government’s Digital Adoption Program.
The Saskatchewan arm of this program is a consortium of provincial organizations including Sask Polytech called Connected Saskatchewan.
Muthana Zouri, dean for Sask Polytech’s School of Business and the School of Information and Communications Technology, explains that it is a win-win for both businesses and students.
Through this program, eligible businesses will receive micro-grants of up to $2,400 to help with the costs related to adopting digital technologies, including software, technology infrastructure and cybersecurity, as well as support and advice from a network of E-Commerce Advisors, and students get paid work opportunities, while receiving guidance from faculty.
The program will support 384 e-commerce advisor placements over three years.
The first group of cohorts began on May 2nd.
Connected Saskkatchewan includes Saskatchewan Economic Development Alliance (SEDA), Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Economic Development Regina and Digital Main Street.
