Students in grades 6, 7, 8 and 9 from around half a dozen schools within the Saskatoon Public Schools came together downtown Thursday afternoon for a student-led walk for the Moose Hide Campaign.
The student-led walk and performances were held to bring awareness and attention to violence against women, children and two-spirit people.
Mandy Cooper is one of the teachers of Westmount School’s Let’s Lead Nikanetan class which hosted the event.
She says they wanted to host the event in previous years but were finally able to so yesterday (thurs).
“It was all student-led, everything was written by the students, all the performances were done by the students and within our class and within other schools in Saskatoon Public School Division.”
Cooper was quite pleased with turnout as a few hundred students gathered at Saskatoon Police Headquarters before making their way to City Hall.
She hopes the Moose Hide Campaign event will grow year-over-year. More information about the can be found with our online story.
