The old clubhouse for the former Riversdale Bowling Club in Victoria Park will be knocked down and a new one will be built in its place this year.

The Rotary Club of Saskatoon is putting up $40 thousand dollars to help build the new facility which will be home to a new local non-profit. The City of Saskatoon has $230 thousand dollars set aside for new building.

CHEP, Wild Sky Adventure Learning, the Riversdale Community Association and Saskatoon Food Council have come together to form the Core Community Collective Saskatoon non-profit.

The new building will be used as a location for food production, a training space for CHEP’s urban agriculture internship program and a space for community gatherings.

The current building was constructed and paid for by the Holiday Park Community Association in 1999. The building is approximately 600 square feet with two washrooms, a gathering area and kitchen. The Club maintained a lease agreement with the City of Saskatoon until July 2016, when the Club ceased operations and terminated the agreement due to low membership.

The site and clubhouse have remained vacant since 2016, aside from temporary use of the building for storage by the King George and Riversdale Community Garden Group in 2018.

The Core Community Collective will be responsible for operating the building and upkeep of the adjacent open space in Victoria Park. Construction is expected to start this summer or fall on the new building.
