The Saskatoon Police Service is looking for tips on a 60 year old murder. It was 60 years ago today (May 18th) that 23 year old Alexandra Wiwcharuk was last seen alive. She left her home in City Park, stopping in at a drugstore and then walking near the river. Thirteen days later, her remains were found along the riverbank, near the location she was last seen. She had a fractured skull and had been sexually assaulted and buried. Her official cause of death was suffocation.
The Police Service says over the years, countless leads have been followed and hundreds of people have been interviewed. As new technology became available, including DNA testing, it has been used to try to solve this case.
Saskatooon Police say the investigation remains active and investigators remain in contact with Alexandra’s family. Anyone with information about her murder, no matter how small it may seem, is asked to contact the police or Crime Stoppers,
