A 29 year old man has died and two others, a 25 and 35 year old, are injured from a shooting late Thursday afternoon. Officers responded to a report of an injured man in the 100 block of Main Street East, and then shortly afterwards, additional reports came in about shots fired in the 700 block of Melrose Avenue. It was also reported an injured man had been taken to City Hospital.
Police say when officers arrived to Melrose Avenue, a 29 year old man was found dead behind an apartment building. There is no word on the condition of the other two men. Police are looking to identify two men, who are described as slim, and were seen fleeing the area in dark clothing. One had a bag with a strap.
Anyone who lives in the area enclosed by Saskatchewan Crescent East, Victoria Avenue, Main Street and the Idylwyld Drive Freeway who has security cameras, is asked to review their footage from between 4 and 5 yesterday afternoon for signs of suspicious activity. Police do not believe there is a continued risk to public safety. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
