The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is celebrating the careers of former FSIN Chief Lawrence Joseph and former FSIN Speaker Milton Burns.
Dr. Lawrence Joseph, of the Big River First Nation, is a residential school survivor and a First Nations Veteran.
He was first elected to the FSIN as Vice Chief in 1997 and he became Chief in 2006.
Current FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron says Chief Joseph is a leader of action who continues to work for a better future for First Nations.
Milton Burns is from the James Smith Cree Nation.
He began working at the FSIN in 1971 and over his 50 year career with the Federation, Chief Cameron says Burns worked tirelessly to advocate for the Treaty Rights of First Nations people in his various positions.
