A downtown grocery store will be front and centre during City Council’s monthly regular meeting today (tues).
Council will be asked to approve a series of intersection changes at Auditorium Avenue and Idylwyld Drive in order to support the development of a Pitchfork MARKET + Kitchen at Midtown Plaza.
Downtown hasn’t been home to a grocery store since Extra Foods on Third Avenue closed its doors more than 15 years ago.
A report detailing safety around the Saskatoon Tribal Council’s Wellness Centre will also reviewed by council. The Fire Department has outlined a report with efforts to address safety and cleanliness concerns.
Nearby residents and business owners have expressed concerns with the Wellness Centre in recent weeks.
Fire officials are calling for things like regular communication with neighbours, increased presence of Wellness Centre staff, police and fire fighters patrolling the area and increased cleaning efforts of nearby sidewalks.
Council will meet at 1 o’clock this afternoon (tues).
