A 24 year old man originally charged with first degree murder has been convicted of manslaughter in the death of 20 year old Damian Moosomin of North Battleford. On May 11th of 2020, Moosomin had been reported missing and five days later his body was found in a back yard in the 1500 block of 10th Street in North Battleford.
Tye Partridge of the Moosomin First Nation is sentenced to 15 years in jail, and he must serve at least half that time before being eligible for parole. There are others charged in this RCMP homicide investigation. Thirty-three year old Jannay Blackbird is charged with second degree murder. Twenty-four year old Stormy Wapass-Semaganis of Edmonton faces a charge of accessory after the fact to murder. Denver Roy of Sweetgrass First Nation pled guilty to offering an indignity to a body last fall and received ten months in jail and nine months probation.
