Two companies have pleaded guilty and have been fined in Meadow Lake provincial court in connection to the same workplace incident.
On October 7th, 2019 near Meadow Lake a worker sustained serious injuries after their glove became entangled in the chain of a sprocket.
Between the fine and surcharge, Norsask Forest Products will have to pay a total of $100,000.
RYTT Contracting Limited also faces a fine and surcharge for a total fine of $30,000.
Both companies pleaded guilty to contravening clause 19(1)(a) of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations: being an employer, fail to ensure that a worker is trained in all matters that are necessary to protect the health and safety of the worker when the worker begins work at a place of employment, resulting in the serious injury of a worker.
