Saskatchewan Animal Protection Services removed 308 cattle between April 6th and 8th in the Whitcow area, about 140 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.
Executive Director Don Ferguson says the animals were in distress.
“The owner was provided with a corrective action order giving the person time to rectify the conditions that were leading the animals to their distress,” he said.
Ferguson says the conditions were not rectified and on the recommendation of a veterinarian, the cattle were taken into custody and provided with food, water and veterinary care.
The cattle were eventually sold at auction.
The owner, Morris Takoryk, will make his first court appearance on June 27th
