Environment Canada says a warm air mass will bring the first extreme heat event to most of western Saskatchewan this afternoon.
About a third of the south and western part of the province stretching from St. Walburg, Turtleford, south through the Battlefords and down the western side of the province including Kindersley-Rosetown, south to the U-S border and across to Assiniboia, Moose Jaw, Outlook, Hanley and Watrous – are under a heat warning.
Environment Canada says drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place, check on older family, friends and neighbours to make sure they are cool and drinking water and never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
Temperatures will be in the low 30s on Friday and continue to increase on Saturday. Humidex values will approach the 40 degree mark Saturday afternoon. A return to normal temperatures is expected by Sunday morning.
