Saskatchewan Polytechnic has won an Innovation of the Year award for work done with Cowessess First Nation.
The school has received a League for Innovation in the Community College award on a joint initiative through the Remote Sensing of Residential School Cemeteries applied research project.
Sask Polytech used remote sensing technologies, specifically unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with imaging sensors along with ground penetrating radar to locate and unmarked grave sites on the Cowessess First Nation.
The League for Innovation in the Community College is an international non-profit organization with a mission to cultivate innovation in the community college environment.
The Innovation of the Year Award recognizes significant achievements and the spirit of innovation and experimentation which the League was founded.
The award is for 2021-2022.
