The federal government’s Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council is providing a USask multidisciplinary team with $1.65 million dollars over six years to create a program that will train graduate students on how to integrate both engineering science and Indigenous views in the design of medical devices and technology.
The UnLIMITED program will be the first of its kind in Canada. It will incorporate both engineering and Indigenous perspectives while training grad students in medical device design and innovation.
Dr. Chris Zhang with the University of Saskatchewan says quote “The program will involve research into medical devices, covering design, manufacturing, human and cultural factors and entrepreneurship.”
Dr. Zhang adds the program will contribute to making Canada a world leader in the medical device economy and to post-truth reconciliation.
