Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan sent a reminder to motorists about slowing to 60 km/h when passing an emergency vehicle with lights activated on the side of the road. This law now includes tow trucks as well. A semi trailer unit was pulled over on Highway 1 near Pense Saturday for not slowing to 60 and the driver was fined $530.
Working in the Saskatoon area, the CTSS also dealt with several speeders going at significantly higher rates of speed than the posted speed limit. Officers pulled over three drivers going 154, 161, and 170 kilometres per hour respectively. Police say motorists caught driving speeds going more than 50 kilometres an hour above the posted speed limit will have their vehicles impounded.
And Combined Traffic Service Saskatchewan pulled over a driver for an equipment violation which turned into much more. The officer smelled cannabis and a roadside test was administered showing the driver tested positive for recent use. The motorist was issued a three day driver’s license suspension and a three day vehicle impound.
