At 8:43 p.m. Saturday night the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a report of a possible person in the river. Within 9 minutes the boat was in the water and heading to the point where the person was last seen, and the shoreline and river were searched.
The Fire Department says in a news release that handheld Sonar was used to identify objects underwater using sound waves, and two objects of interest were identified at 9:22. Divers then got in the water to search and at 9:51 a person was found and CPR was initiated.
The person was taken to hospital and the Saskatoon Police Service then took over the scene. The police department has not released any further details, including whether the person survived.
