The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a porch fire in the 300 block of Avenue J South on Monday morning. Emergency crews were alerted at 5:39 a.m., and when fire fighters arrived, the porch was fully involved in flame. The Fire Department says the blaze was brought under control at 5:51 and at 6:41 was declared completely extinguished.

In the meantime though, crews identified a fire in the yard of a property adjacent to the original fire across the alley, in the 300 block of Avenue K South. A Fire Investigator says both fires are suspicious. It started in the porch at the first home, and in a couch in the yard in the second location. The damage estimate for the Avenue J South home is $175,000 and it is $1,500 for the Avenue K South location.
