Four tornadoes touched down in Saskatchewan in the late afternoon and early evening on Friday according to Environment Canada.
Meteorologist Kenane Kokolsky says three were in the Paynton, Saskatchewan area. Those ones hit the ground around 4 p.m. and lifted at 4:36 p.m.
Another was reported shortly after 6 o’clock near Blaine Lake. That one touched the ground at 6:13 p.m.
Saskatoon and several other communities in the central part of the province were under a tornado warning Friday afternoon. The North Battleford and Prince Albert areas were under a tornado warning once Environment Canada began tracking one of the tornadoes around 4:30.
Those warning have since been lifted.
Kokolsky says the storms moved east-southeast as they made their way across the central part of the province.
It’s expected today (sat) will be a quieter day when it comes to severe weather, although there is still the possibility of some thunderstorms in many parts of the province later today.
Friday was the second day of the summer which saw multiple tornadoes touch down in the province. On June 29th, at least three tornadoes were confirmed.
