Even with a banged up Cody Fajardo it was a 28-13 victory for the Saskatchewan Roughriders at home last night against the Ottawa Redblacks. The first quarter started slow for the Riders, only scoring three points, but the offence exploded in the second quarter to take a 16 point lead into halftime.
In the second half the riders took care of business on both sides of the ball by not allowing the winless Redblacks back into the game.
Riders quarterback Cody Fajardo didn’t miss a beat Friday night as he threw two touchdowns on 231 yards passing.
The Riders now move to 4-1 and sit 3rd in the west standings. Next week they will be in Wolfville, Nova Scotia taking on the 1-2 Toronto Argonauts.
Meanwhile, Ottawa Redblacks quarterback Jeremiah Masoli was carried off the field by his teammates after a low hit by Riders defensive lineman Garrett Marino. A scrum between the two teams followed suit while Masoli remained down on the field. Marino was ejected from the game and the Riders were issued a 15-yard penalty.
