Battleford RCMP responded to 541 calls for service between July 6th and yesterday and two of those calls involved individuals having to be transported to Saskatoon to be treated for their injuries.
On Saturday, RCMP were called to a vehicle/pedestrian accident north of the intersection of Territorial Drive and Carlton Trail in North Battleford. It was shortly before 10:30 in the morning when a vehicle hit a pedestrian crossing the highway.
The driver of the vehicle wasn’t hurt but the pedestrian, a man in his sixties, was taken by ambulance to Saskatoon hospital with serious injuries for which he is still receiving medical care. The accident remains under investigation and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
And on Monday evening, RCMP were called to a home in the 2000 block of 99th Street in North Battleford. A man in his forties was found suffering from injuries all over his body. The victim reported being assaulted several times over the past days with a hammer. The victim is currently being treated in hospital in Saskatoon for his injuries. A suspect who is known to the victim has since been identified. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
