A local non-profit is filling up a 40-foot container full of humanitarian aid for a crisis centre that helps mothers and their children in Ukraine.
The C-can will be at the Stream of Hopes warehouse located at 3403 Faithful Avenue on Saturday, July 16th.
Rostyk Hursky, one of the co-founders of Stream of Hopes says they’re looking to include items that cater to moms and kids.
“We are focusing a little bit more on items that are more geared or focused towards kids and moms. So we’re looking for baby formula, baby food, diapers, female hygiene products, we’re looking for non-perishable food items. We’re sending a bunch of medical aid because these kids are a lot that need medical assistance.”
The 40-foot C-can will be able to hold up to 20,000 kg of aid. Donations can be made Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Stream of Hopes team are looking for volunteers to come out and give a hand during those times. Hursky says during the Canada Day long weekend, they had over 100 volunteers come out to help with organizing the donations.
Stream of Hopes has been involved with other efforts to help those in Ukraine including the Unite for Ukraine luncheon that was held in May at TCU Place.
