The province is touting positive numbers from Statistics Canada for construction investment and manufacturing sales. Saskatchewan had the highest monthly increase from among the provinces for investment in building construction in May, with a rise of six per cent, and manufacturing sales increased by just over 36 per cent compared to May of 2021. That was was the second highest percentage change among the provinces. The total value of Saskatchewan’s manufacturing sales this past May was approximately $2.2 billion.
A news release from the province says another key economic indicator is a 55 per cent increase in merchandise exports in May compared to the year previous. Merchandise exports grew to $4.9 billion, a jump of almost 23 per cent from April to May, placing the province second in both year-over-year and month-to-month export growth across all provinces.
