There is now a second confirmed case of monkeypox in Saskatchewan. And the second case, the province says, is not linked to the first confirmed case which was announced earlier this week.
While contact tracing is ongoing it appears at this time that the second person to have the infection got it out of the province.
No information is being released about the individual involved due to privacy concerns however health officials would provide public notification to a community if the risk to others was considered high.
Typical symptoms include fever, rash and swollen lymph nodes. If you have these symptoms report it to your medical care provider.
Monkeypox does not spread easily from person to person. It is spread through: prolonged face-to-face close contact; touching bodily fluids or lesions of a person who is sick with the disease; or exposure to contaminated objects such as bed linens or clothing.
